We just finished a near week of program specific and mission orientation with the Christian Medical and Dental Association (CMDA) and World Medical Mission Post-Residency Program. The week was so full of pertinent knowledge I’m not sure how we debrief ourselves.
Whoa wait, first things first, “the views in this blog are ours, and do not necessarily reflect the views of Samaritan’s Purse, World Medical Mission, the Post-Residency Program, or United Mission to Nepal.” There, pheww got that out of the way. We had an entire information session on social media during the orientation. Though we may be comfortable embarrassing ourselves in a blog post we in no way wish to embarrass the good folks at Samaritan’s Purse or UMN. So there you have it I’m putting the knowledge to use already!
Other useful stuff included
- The difference between reimbursable and non-reimbursable expenses
- How many bags we are actually allowed to pack
- How to keep up CMEs
- Which type of transformer is needed for 220V
- There will be no consumption of alcohol
Obviously there was much more important information that was given. This list was the first five that came to my mind. The number one thing I walked away from the week with was, “We have a ton to do”. We seemed a little bit behind some of the other families (no real surprise there) but we do leave in September and many of the other families do not leave till January. Yikes!
